EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The El Paso County Parks and Recreation Department teamed up with Eco El Paso to celebrate Earth Day in southcentral El Paso Saturday.
The event was held at Ascarte Park located at 6900 Delta Drive.
Twenty-five trees were donated by Eco El Paso to Ascarte Park and were planted during the event as part of Eco's initiative to plant 500 trees across the county.
The "Earth Day 2023" free family event also had booths from various businesses, non-profits, artists, and food vendors for people at the event.
County Parks and Recreation hosted recycling activities, an Earth Day Scavenger hunt, arts and crafts,
and held a special screening of “The Lorax,” at the park's pavilion.
Earth Day is a celebration of the earth and our environment. It is a historical event that takes place every year to
bring awareness to the environmental issues our planet faces and promote solutions for a sustainable future said organizers.
