Eco El Paso is proud to establish the Rio Grande Electric Auto Association, as a chapter of the Electric Auto Association. The Electric Auto Association is North America’s leading volunteer organization that accelerates the adoption of electric vehicles by supporting its 80 chapters and thousands of members as they talk neighbor-to-neighbor about the benefits of driving electric.
The Rio Grande Chapter of the EAA will focus on El Paso, West Texas, and Southern New Mexico to help educate the public on Electric Vehicles and increase the adoption of electrified transportation in our region. This will not only create new job opportunities, but it will drastically reduce air pollution and the negative effects that arise from poor air quality. We also take note that many underserved communities are disproportionately affected by poor air quality and we must do our part to reduce our carbon footprint and improve air quality in our region.

The Electric Auto Association's Mission: The Electric Auto Association accelerates the widespread adoption of electric vehicles through education, infrastructure support and demonstration.
The Chapters are the heartbeat of the Electric Auto Association. They play a vital role in demonstrating that there is an electric vehicle for every lifestyle by annually hosting hundreds of grassroots educational events and test drives. All members no matter their knowledge level are encouraged to attend or volunteer at our events.
Formed in 1967 as a way to share the benefits of transitioning gasoline vehicles to electric, the Electric Auto Association saw its membership as a result of two gas shortages in 1970 and 1973 that gripped the U.S. causing drivers to face around-the-block lines at their local gas stations. A group of Silicon Valley, CA engineers banded together to respond to this shortage.
They created an educational effort as part of the Electric Auto Association that offered to assist anyone interested in converting their gasoline cars to electric and reduce dependence on foreign oil. It was there the nonprofit’s first chapter was created and since then has evolved into an effort that has spurred electric vehicle market growth across an entire continent.
Most people talk about the price of a car but the real focus for any car buyer should be the Total Cost of Ownership. What does it cost today and each month to maintain and use. Why should you convert to Electrified Transportation?
